Team captain Dylan Larkin has requested a trade to a contender, preferring to leave Detroit after the Red Wings missed the playoffs for a 10th consecutive season. The Wings traded their 2026 first-round pick to St. Louis in March in an attempt to improve their playoff chances, but the team collapsed down the stretch. Larkin has a no-trade clause but can waive it if GM Steve Yzerman locates a willing trade partner.
