Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal with 2:12 remaining in the third period to give the New Jersey Devils a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers. Timo Meier recorded a goal and an assist for the Devils while Jake Allen stopped all three shots he faced in the first period. Anthony Mantha and Luke Evangelista each made their debut with the Devils, with Evangelista signing a five-year, $36.25 million contract set to begin in 2027-28.
