Yzerman's Free Agent Dilemma: Not Everyone Will Be Back

According to Steve Yzerman, it appears that the Red Wings will not be able to sign all of their pending UFAs this offseason. The team has a number of key players set to hit free agency, including Patrick Kane, David Perron, and James van Riemsdyk, among others.

This is less than ideal for a team that's trying to rebuild and retool its roster after years of underperformance. If Yzerman can't retain his top UFAs, it will be interesting to see what he decides to do with the cap space that becomes available.
