The New York Islanders missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs despite finishing third in the Metropolitan Division last season. Ilya Sorokin led the NHL in high-danger saves and had a 16-6-0 record when facing at least 30 shots. Rookie defenseman Matthew Schaefer will need to improve his game as the team seeks better power play performance.
