Massive Asking Price Emerges In Nikita Kucherov Talks

Kucherov is eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer and was seeking a deal in the $20 million annual range over six years, according to reports. The Lightning did not sign him to an extension before the NHL reduced maximum contract terms from eight to seven years. General manager Julien BriseBois said both sides prefer to have a deal finalized but none has been reached.
