Rookie forward Gavin McKenna is entering his first NHL training camp with support from fellow No. 1 picks Auston Matthews and John Tavares. Matthews was selected No. 1 by Toronto in 2016, while Tavares was chosen No. 1 by the New York Islanders in 2009. McKenna was the Maple Leafs' first selection in the 2026 NHL Draft out of Penn State University.
