Detroit Red Wings name Shawn Horcoff interim GM while search continues
The Detroit Red Wings named Shawn Horcoff interim general manager on Tuesday, Sept. 15, while continuing the search for a permanent replacement for Steve Yzerman. Horcoff has served as director of player development and assistant director of player personnel for the team and has been handling daily GM duties since Yzerman left his position in mid-July. The team announced Yzerman will transition to senior advisor to CEO Chris Ilitch, while Horcoff is tasked with signing restricted free agent defenseman Simon Edvinsson before the Sept. 15 deadline.
