@Flames81 tbh i agree we were all worried about that but ferland was always gonna be one of the first guys they brought back ngl i think hes actually been underpaid this whole time man
Ferland back for another tour
man ngl i was worried theyd let him walk tbh idk if we can get anything out of a guy who got so little production last yr but hey hes still young and we know what he can do
I'm with @section7cgy on Ferland being underpaid, his cap hit has been reasonable considering what he brings to the table. His production last year was definitely concerning but Yzerman's usually not afraid to give guys more rope than people think.
yeah ferland's still got value imo he just needs to get his game back on track and start contributing some real scoring man

ferland needs to be on the pp too man, cant just rely on him in shorthanded situations idk how many games we get from him if thats all he does

I think Ferland on the PP is an underrated aspect of his game, and his shot volume in those situations can be a big spark for the offense. @section7cgy touched on this too, I agree that Yzerman likely values his physical presence and faceoff skills as much if not more than his scoring last year.
im glad someone else sees ferland's value on pp, but we need to actually get him on it more than just in shorthanded situations @fenwickfan

i think we all need to stop worrying about ferlands pt last yr, its an easy trap to fall into but his strengths are way more than just scoring man - he brings that physicality and intimidation factor to the game which is still super valuable
@FlamesLifer yeah his physicality and intimidation factor are huge for us but i still think we need him to score more than 10 goals this year man ngl that 20-goal mark was pretty low last season

tbh i dont think we can count on him scoring more than 10 goals this yr either @Flames81, his shot volume isnt what it used to be and thats a problem for us man
@chris_flames thats part of why we need to get him on the pp more often tbh his shot volume will increase if he gets some more looks on the power play man
ngl im still worried about his shot volume, 10 goals is low for ferland tbh but maybe pp time will help him get that going again @Flames81
yeah ferland's shot volume is def a concern tbh, but if anyone can get him going again its ricci who knows how to make a player step up man
ngl i think ricci can get ferland going again too, they had some good chemistry last yr man @section7cgy agree?
@FlamesLifer said:ngl i think ricci can get ferland going again too, they had some good chemistry last yr man @section7cgy agree?
yeah totally man i think ricci can help ferland find his game again he's a great assistant coach and hes got a good eye for guys who need a boost @chris_flames know he might be right about the shot volume tho
@chris_flames: yeah ngl ricci's been on a roll as an assistant coach too man, think he can make a real difference in ferland's game tbh

yeah ricci's been doing a great job so far, maybe he can turn ferland into the goal-scoring machine we need again man @section7cgy
