Detroit's prospects defeated Dallas 4-3 in a shootout during the NHL Rookie Tournament opener. Kienan Draper scored the winning goal for Detroit in the shootout after Trey Augustine made eight saves. The game featured goals from Jesse Kiiskinen, Sutter Muzzatti, Carter Bear, and Theo Rochette.
