i think theyre worried about his cap hit getting too high and thats why its a short leash maybe trying to gauge his performance without breaking the bank

i think your on to somethin there with teh cap hit concern but i still dont get why they didnt just resign him for a few yrs instead of tryin to test the waters @Oilers4Life yea maybe theyre just worried bout gettin locked into a bad deal like last yr with the pp strugglin soo much

ngl that's a big concern for me too, injuries have held him back before and it's crazy to think he can stay healthy all year. @andy_v i'm with you on this one, cap hit is a factor but they gotta be worried about him busting again imo

@section7edm I'm inclined to agree with you on this one, hedging their bets makes sense considering his injury history and the significant cap hit. It's a gamble for sure, but one that might pay off if he can stay healthy, reminds me of when they took a chance on Shawn Horcoff back in the day, patience is key here.
