Former Red Wings First Rounder Loses Battle to Parkinson’s Disease

Former Red Wings first-round pick Brent Peterson, selected 12th overall in 1978, died after a 23-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He played 620 games in the NHL and coached in Nashville from 2002 until 2011. Peterson and his wife founded the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson's in 2009 to support those affected by the disease.
