Barry Melrose played 21 games for the Detroit Red Wings in 1983-84 and 14 games in 1985-86. He coached the Medicine Hat Tigers to a Memorial Cup championship in 1987-88 and later led the Adirondack Red Wings to a Calder Cup title in 1991-92. The Los Angeles Kings hired Melrose as head coach after the 1991-92 season, leading them to the Stanley Cup Final in 1993.
