Ryan Martin, a former Red Wings assistant general manager who later became associate general manager with the New York Rangers, has not been interviewed by the Red Wings despite being considered a logical candidate. Martin previously managed the Grand Rapids Griffins and was part of the Detroit front office during their 2008 Stanley Cup run, handling salary-cap management and contract negotiations. Jeff Greenberg, another potential candidate, withdrew his name from consideration.
