Melanson Contract

yeah i was thinkin we'd grab a legit goalie but melanson's been good in ams so hopefully he can make the leap here honestly

man i agree, he looked solid in ams and it's better than nothing imo, need someone to at least give us some chance to maybe make the playoffs this yr

@KrakenEnjoyer, I agree on Melanson being an upgrade over what we had last year, but let's not get ahead of ourselves - he still ranks around 20th in expected goals against per 60 minutes among AHL netminders since '22. His numbers aren't as glowing as some here think they are.

Those xga/60 stats are just a bunch of nonsense. I'd rather have a goalie who can actually stop pucks than one with fancy numbers, and Melanson's shown he can do that in the AHL. @Kraken71 sounds like you're looking for a quick fix to get to the playoffs this year.

@PuckBunnyPam tbh i dont think thats fair, just cuz hes played well in ams doesnt mean he automatically wins us some games here in the nhl honestly man @GrumpyInGrosse's got a point too, gotta get some real results out of him now

ngl just cuz he played well in ams doesnt mean hes gonna be a playoff starter here, gotta earn some actual wins in the nhl before we get all excited @KrakenEnjoyer

I'm still not sold on Melanson, his AHL numbers are nice but that's all they are until he proves it at this level for a stretch, and yeah, being "just as good" here is setting the bar pretty low tbh

@doug_g ngl im low-key worried he's gonna be that 1st guy they try to carry through the whole season because of his "amazing" stats in the regular season lol
