marchenko staying put, di pietro's the backup now

I'll believe we've got our goalie situation sorted out when I see Filppula's contract get cut loose. Marchenko was a Band-Aid solution to begin with, now Di Pietro's the kid they're banking on? What depth issues are you worried about?

I'd say Di Pietro's success or failure isn't solely tied to Marchenko's contract situation, but rather his own performance numbers in the AHL last year were promising: a .923SV% with a 5.13 high-danger save percentage is respectable for a rookie goalie. We'll see how he handles more pressure at the NHL level.

@fenwickfan yh those AHL numbers were pretty encouraging tbh, might've been better to give him more seasoning before throwing him into the mix
