im not saying we shouldnt think about the future but playoffs experience actually matters when you're stuck with guys like slavin and jaccob vibin like its 2019 man

i'm not saying they're horrible players or anything but when you got guys who are already here and getting paid, its hard to expect them to elevate their game man

i dont think thats fair to call it a mess yet we've still got like 6 weeks before free agency starts maybe some good things can happen man

I think you're being a bit too optimistic about the cap situation, Chris. We've had some pretty significant departures and now we're signing mid-tier free agents - it's going to be a tight squeeze. The likes of Terry Sawchuk used to have to make do with less than ideal situations like this, but he still managed to win Vezinas and Stanley Cups for the Red Wings, after all.

@OldTimeHockeyOtto fair points, but let's actually look at our cap situation before calling it a mess - we still have 25M to spend with a projected 80M next season.

25M ain't a whole lot when you got 20+ guys on the roster already, @fenwickfan @chris_hurricanes just think about all those contracts we gotta re-sign before FA even opens man

idk man its not all doom and gloom tbh we've made some good moves before and it usually pays off, hopefully they can make it happen again this year

idk man, you think that's gonna be enough cap space after we gotta re-sign Mayeul and Vesey, plus all the other guys @fenwickfan was talking about

yeah @Hurricanes2 we gotta prioritize, and if re-signing mayeul is that important then maybe they can make some other adjustments, ngl i'd rather see them take a shot at someone like him than worry about the cap honestly
