The Red Wings had two high-end goaltending prospects in Sebastian Cossa, selected 15th overall in 2021, and Trey Augustine, drafted 41st overall in 2023. Cossa had a strong WHL resume with Edmonton Oil Kings before being selected by Detroit. Augustine developed quickly at Michigan State and earned multiple All-American and All-Star team honors from 2024 to 2026.
