Dylan Larkin requested a trade from the Detroit Red Wings in early June despite having five years remaining on his contract. Reports indicated he would only accept a move to the Vegas Golden Knights, Minnesota Wild, or Florida Panthers. As of September 5, Larkin remained on the Red Wings roster and the team had not yet named a successor for former GM Steve Yzerman.
