The Minnesota Wild are seeking to extend Quinn Hughes before the regular season begins. Hughes is entering the final year of his contract and has been difficult to pin down. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman suggested Hughes may not want a long-term commitment to Minnesota.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Wild needing an extension for someone like Hughes when we've got Moritz Seider locked up long-term in Detroit. It's just another example of how teams are getting desperate with cap management in anticipation of the new CBA.
