The Detroit Red Wings are sending six free agents to the NHL Rookie Tournament at Belfor Training Center, which begins September 12. Haeden Ellis, a 19-year-old right-winger, previously helped lead the Kitchener Rangers to Memorial Cup victory over Carter Bear's Everett Silvertips. Ellis will be playing college hockey at Northeastern.
