The Detroit Red Wings announced former captain Steve Yzerman would step down after seven years as general manager. The team has had nearly two months to select a replacement since Yzerman's departure created uncertainty during a difficult offseason. Rather than follow past practices, the Red Wings turned to Turnkeyzrg, an outside consulting firm, to help find their next general manager.
