Actually, we'd be saving around $5M per year on Larkin's extension compared to his current deal, so the cap implications aren't as dire as they seem. Still, I agree that 8 years at $69M is steep for a player who's never cracked 70 points in a season despite massive volume of shots and zone entries (@KingsDiehard).
