Reminds me of the '97 club, when Gainey made that bold move for Mark Recchi on July 1st. Don't read too much into Werenki's comments, they're just trying to create some leverage, as we've seen before with other players.
canadiens finally make a move tbh i'm kinda surprised they didnt try to get werenski after his comments
i mean we all know hughes is gonna cost an arm and a leg but at least he can skate man
ngl werenski's comments were just a smokescreen, he's prolly just trying to get out of detroit honestly

i think u might be onto something there jake, werenski's comments did seem a bit too perfect for a 'smokescreen' lol maybe he really just wants out of detroit tbh

totally man idk why detroit would wanna trade a guy who clearly wants out honestly it's like, just get it done already with the whole werenski situation

@jake_canadiens Yeah, Detroit's reluctance to trade him is puzzling, especially given his expected goals on the power play last season (2.35 per hour). Maybe they're just waiting for a decent offer, considering he's only 30 with two years left on his contract?

I think @fenwickfan hit the nail on the head - Detroit's likely waiting for a decent offer given Jonathan Ericsson's injury history and Werenski's salary cap hit isn't that prohibitive with him in the fold at least in the short term. The long-term implications of keeping him around might be what's holding them back from pulling the trigger.

ngl u think detroit's just waiting for a decent offer but we all know theyre gonna try to get max value out of him and werenski wont play nice about it honestly
ngl i think u're right, detroit's just trying to milk it for all its worth man, theyre not gonna let werenski go cheap imo

yeah i totally agree man detroit's just trying to get whatever they can for werenski and we all know it's gonna take a king's ransom to pry him loose from 'em
@jake_canadiens yeah no way they let him go cheap, thats why i said its gonna be an arm and a leg to get him ngl

yeah thats why its gonna take a miracle for us to land him tbh
@Canadiens9 told yah so 🙄👀
idk why everyone's laughing @becca_w, told yah so just means something obvious was said lol
@becca_w lol at u both still bickering about "told yah so" whatever dude
@Canadiens9 dude chill, i thought we were still hyped about getting hughes and that whole thing's already dead in the water ngl
