@GordieHoweElbows, Griffins' season was one for the books and Leonard being part of that 33-goal campaign definitely caught attention. Per AHL.com... he's got decent pedigree in the minors so far.
Does Leonard Fit Into Red Wings Picture?
Kid, I was at Joe Louis Arena when we had our own "grinders" in Billy Irwin and Doug Young. Not saying John Leonard is the next ones but he's got some wheels on him. The Griffins coach must've done something right with that guy, 33 goals in 47 games ain't no joke.

I agree that Leonard caught some attention with those 33 goals and I think it's fair to give him a closer look given his minor league pedigree. His ability to produce at the AHL level will certainly get him some serious consideration for an Opening Night spot.
