ngh i feel you saturday nite suze theyre just trying to jam too many cooks into that room now and expect greenwood to bail them out lol
I'm not sure I agree that the buyouts would've solved their cap woes; they'd still have had to find another way to reduce commitments come expansion season. It's possible the thinking was that buyouts wouldn't be enough of a fix to justify the roster upheaval, per ESPN Hockey Today.
I think DetroitTom has a good point about the potential long-term cap implications of buyouts, but doesn't that also apply to just mortgaging more draft picks for short-term relief? It's complex and I'm not sure what would've been the "right" call, given our team's overall situation.
