ngl i think theyre just desperate to shake up the roster after a bad year, trying to get something done rather than wait for next yrs free agency honestly man

Honest sentiment from someone who's been through a rebuild or two. Desperation does lead teams down uncertain paths. Reminds me of the '71 Bruins, trading away Tommy Williams for draft picks that never panned out - some history tends to repeat itself.

Makes total cap sense is a far cry from being a sound hockey decision. @toddm_tc I think we're seeing a scenario similar to when Detroit traded Bill Gadsby for cash in '55 - hindsight is always 20/20 but at the time it seemed like a smart move, until you consider what could've been.

ngl @OldTimeHockeyOtto that's some old-school hockey talk but not exactly relatable to today's game man, dont think marchenko's gonna become a bill gadsby or tommy williams anytime soon imo
