I'm not sure I understand why Jeffrey Greenberg's NHL background suddenly makes him a better candidate than some other internal or external options. Has DetroitTom got a source on this that he can share?

According to sources close to the situation, Chris Ilitch is considering bringing Jeffrey Greenberg from the Tigers over to Little Caesars Arena as his next GM choice. This is an interesting development, given Greenberg's prior NHL experience with the Devils.
I'd give it a 30% shot at this point.
