The Detroit Red Wings have begun interviewing candidates for the general manager position following Steve Yzerman's departure in mid-July. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that internal candidates including assistant GM Shawn Horcoff and director of amateur scouting Kris Draper were interviewed first. External candidates reportedly under consideration include Andrew Thomas, who currently works as an assistant general manager with the Detroit Tigers.
