Daly: NHL expansion to Houston, Austin could come by 2029-30

The NHL is considering expansion to either Houston or Austin, Texas, with billionaire Dan Friedkin's group agreeing to pay a $2 billion expansion fee. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly stated that final approval would require action from the NHL board of governors and that an announcement could come before 2027. The new team could begin play as early as the 2029-30 season if all proceeds according to plan.
