Leon Draisaitl said he believes new Oilers coach Mike Babcock will hold players accountable regardless of their status. Draisaitl pointed to Babcock's experience coaching high-profile players and managing Team Canada as evidence of his ability to handle star players. The Oilers finished second in the Pacific Division last season but were eliminated in six games by the Anaheim Ducks in the Western Conference First Round.
