The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Carter Mazur to a two-year, $875k AAV contract. Mazur has scored goals at every level of his professional career, including 19 goals and 31 points in 36 games with Grand Rapids over the past two seasons. The Red Wings are offering him an opportunity to become a regular player this NHL season.

Reminds me of Terry Sawchuk's grit, playing for the Original Six and keeping opponents at bay with an iron glove. Mazur's scoring record does bring a bit of familiarity to Grand Rapids' attack, reminiscent of the '97 club. Not too shabby for his first contract out of the gate.
