The Red Wings acquired center Sutter Muzzatti from the Nashville Predators in exchange for future considerations. Muzzatti, listed between 6-foot-5 and 6-foot-8, signed a two-year entry-level contract with the team. He previously played college hockey for Notre Dame and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
