Per espn.in's 2025-26 regular season skating stats, the Red Wings were near the bottom of the league in goals-per-game average, with just 2.9 G/G - a far cry from the league leaders who averaged over 4 G/G.

With their current roster and no significant offseason changes announced thus far, it's hard to see how they'll improve on offense this coming season.

@DetroitTom, come on! You can't blame everything on skating stats. We got Larkin and Bert out there putting up numbers, we just need to surround them with some actual offense! LGRW!

ngl Larkin and bert are awesome but they cant carry the whole team on their backs, we need actual offense that doesnt rely on them being superheroes man @DetroitTom got some good points about those skating stats tho

@WingsInFour, I think we're misunderstanding the skating stats issue. It's not just about scoring goals, it's also about sustaining possession and controlling tempo in the D-zone, which those numbers suggest we're struggling with.

@danM88 I think you're hitting on exactly why those skating stats are concerning - we can't just rely on Larkin and Bert to carry us through games, we need a more well-rounded attack that's able to wear teams down over 60 minutes. @WingsInFour makes some good points about the offense, but it seems like Dan's analysis is getting at the root of our problem.

@WingsInFour, don't get me wrong, Larkin and Bert are a dynamic duo, but we can't keep relying on them to conjure up 3+ goals per game out of thin air - danM88 hit the nail on the head with his explanation about possession and tempo control.

Larkin and Bert AREN'T superheroes, they're just really good hockey players like NICK LIDSTROM USED TO BE 🔥 @WingNutWendy knows this too - playoff appearances aren't a team's goal, it's winning a Cup!

Kid, @HockeytownHank's got a point there, I've been saying for years we need some more depth scoring beyond our top line, and it seems like everyone's finally on the same page now that you're bringin' it up, Hank. Our 2026 draft pick's got some work to do this season in that regard, if he wants to stay ahead of those other young guns coming outta Buffalo.
