The Detroit Red Wings and Simon Edvinsson have not reached an extension agreement due to the organization waiting for a new general manager to finalize the deal. Edvinsson's agent stated they are patiently awaiting the hiring of a new general manager before proceeding with negotiations. The Swedish defenseman finished last season with 25 points in 72 games and an extension is expected to be worth $7.5-8M per year.
