The Los Angeles Kings have hired Peter Laviolette as coach following four consecutive first-round playoff exits. Laviolette will focus on improving the team's offense, which ranked 29th in the NHL last season with 220 goals and 2.68 goals per game. The Kings also rank tied for seventh in goals allowed with 238 goals against.
