NHL Network's preseason list includes Makar, Werenski, Hughes, Dahlin, and Schaefer among the top 20 defensemen in the League. Toews recorded 24 points in 68 games and led Avalanche defensemen with 11 points in 13 playoff games. Theodore had 39 points in 70 regular-season games and led NHL defensemen with 18 points in 22 playoff games. Hedman played only 33 games last season due to a broken elbow.
