I think this game means more for morale than anything else at this point. A win's a win, but we need to see sustained effort and improvement from our team throughout the season. What were your impressions of our first game at LCA?
I agree with @RedWingRusty that wins are nice but don't tell us much about our team's future prospects. We need to see how they respond to adversity and setbacks throughout the season, which is still far off given the current state of our roster per ESPN NHL rumors.

Can't believe all this talk about looking at the big picture and moral wins... WE'RE GONNA WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR!!! I'd rather have a team with heart and determination than any amount of sustained effort and improvement. @RedWingRusty knows what it's gonna take!

we don't even have a GM yet
@quinnr's got a point there, we're still waiting to see how Yzerman's going to shape our roster and make the most of our resources under the cap. That doesn't change my mind about the bigger picture needing sustained effort though. Guess it's all part of the rebuild process in its various stages.

@quinnr's got the right idea here! We need a direction and leadership before we can even talk about building for the future or winning the cup this year!!!
@HockeytownHank: Yzerman still needs to fill some major holes on the roster and get that team chemistry right before we can start building for the future or even thinking about another Cup run in 2027. And let's be real, the trade market will dictate a lot of our moves this off-season.
