LARKIN NEEDS OUT NOW

Kid, I see you're a little exercised about Larkin's trade rumors. Can't say I blame ya - he's been a great leader for us. However, remember how we felt when they traded Mike Gartner in 1994?

I DONT CARE ABOUT Gartner we AINT the Islanders, we need a top-line center and if Larkin is gettin it done we dont NEED him!! @LIDSTROM_4_LIFE would've gotten that Cup without him in '02 but I digress. WE got bigger

Kid @HockeytownHank, bringing up '02 won't change nothing about our situation now. And I gotta say, comparing us to the Islanders? That's just not right - we've built something special here in Detroit, and I think we should be proud of what we have, trade or no trade.

I gotta agree with you here @GordieHoweElbows - we have built something special in Detroit and I think trading Larkin would be a huge mistake. It's hard to forget how he carried the team down the stretch last season when others weren't getting it done, and his leadership is invaluable.

hard agree Larkin's value still sky high

@gibby35 - yeah, Larkin's value still very high, but we haven't even started the rebuild yet and I'm already seeing GM's get desperate, that's when you overpay for middle-six guys, not your core players per Sportsnet.ca
