tbh i get what youre saying, but imo one phenomenal season is understating it a bit, the guy carried us through some tough times ngl if he leaves now its gonna hurt a lot more than if we had just moved him during the season man

@GriffinsGabe: Kid, I think you're confusing past performance with present value. Remember when Ted Lindsay came off that '55 Cup team and had a few rough years? Talent doesn't always translate to consistent production, unfortunately.

@GordieHoweElbows is spot on here, Kane's one season has some folks caught up in a sentimental cloud. His performance this past year doesn't necessarily mean he's worth an elite contract and we can't get value back for him, per ESPN.

you cant just compare ted lindsay to kane!! 2 guys, different eras, different skills. can't use that as an example here!!!

@HockeytownHank I get your point about Lindsay and Kane being from different eras, but GordieHoweElbows was making a broader point about the fallibility of relying on past performance when evaluating current value. It's a relevant discussion for our situation with Kane.
