Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin discussed contract extension talks with defenseman Quinn Hughes and his representatives. Hughes is in the final season of his contract and eligible for unrestricted free agency next July. The team prefers signing him to a five-to-eight year extension before September 16 when maximum contract length will be shortened.
