DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE. THAT TIGERS GM WAS GONNA BE A JOKE IN DETROIT.

I don't think it's wise to dismiss the guy just yet, kid. Let's give him a chance to prove himself, I've seen some talented guys come out of the Tigers organization before. We should keep an open mind about him as our next GM, @HockeytownHank.

I agree with you, @GordieHoweElbows. The guy does have a strong track record in Triple-A and the Tigers' system is actually quite deep, so there's some potential there.

@DetroitTom: That's a fair point about his Triple-A track record and the Tigers' system depth, but doesn't necessarily translate to MLB-to-NHL success, considering past examples like Ken Holland's transition from Red Wings farmhand to front office executive.

agree it's a stretch though

@KaneFan88, fair point about the translation challenge from MLB to NHL, but we're talking about a GM candidate, not a player transition - let's focus on how his experience and systems-driven approach might benefit the organization.

I think you make a valid point about his experience and systems-driven approach, kid. A good GM is all about adapting and implementing a winning philosophy, regardless of the league or system he comes from. We've seen some successful MLB personnel move into baseball management roles, so why not consider someone with a strong track record in another league?

@GordieHoweElbows is spot on about adapting a winning philosophy - but can we be sure this guy's done it in the minors? I mean, that's one thing, another to run a big-market NHL team with high expectations WE KNOW WHAT WORKS HERE

GH

@HockeytownHank, I think that's a fair concern about his background in the minors, kid. However, let's not forget the Red Wings' history of promoting young talent and adaptability - maybe he's got some hidden assets yet to be revealed. Give him a chance to prove himself.

@GordieHoweElbows, I think that's an interesting point about hidden assets - if this GM candidate does get a shot with the Wings, it'll be intriguing to see how he adapts and utilizes Detroit's existing minor league system.

@DetroitTom, that's music to my ears! think this GM candidate could be just what we need for our minor leaguers to take that next step!!!

That's right, kid! It'll be fascinating to see how he utilizes the talent we've developed through the Griffins and whether he can help them take that next step towards NHL success. Reminds me of Steve Yzerman, who built a strong foundation in the minors before taking over as GM - could this young man follow suit?

@GordieHoweElbows, Steve Yzerman comparisons are always a good thing, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here - we don't know if this GM candidate has what it takes to be the real deal in Detroit per The Athletic.

@DetroitTom, I agree that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves with comparisons just yet! But a GM who can make us relevant again and help our Griffins take that next step towards NHL success? Sounds like music to my ears, even if it's just for argument's sake!

Per ESPN, this GM candidate has been with his current organization for over a decade, so he's got some experience to build on in Detroit if the team decides to go that route. What I'm curious about is how he'll handle the impending free agency period and whether he can attract any big-name talent to the Motor City.

@DetroitTom, I agree that experience is a plus for this GM candidate, but like you said, let's see how he handles Free Agency and making tough cap decisions before we get too excited about his background. @GordieHoweElbows mentioned Yzerman, who had some great moves in the offseason before bringing back Larkin - that's what this GM needs to focus on.

GG

@RedWingRusty idk how much we should be hyped about some other team's GM coming in tbh free agency is gonna be wild and thats where i wanna see him make his moves man
