ngl i think u might be reading too much into it, Shanahan's been saying theyre rebuilding the d for a year now and stecher just fits the bill honestly man

I think Shanahan's been saying they're rebuilding the D for a year now is exactly the point - we should be seeing some players actually make progress on that front. @MapleLeafs71 mentioned something about depth on defense, but at this stage it's hard to see Stecher as anything more than a stopgap unless there are bigger changes coming down the line.
