The Detroit Red Wings selected Swedish defensemen Albert Johansson and Gustav Berglund in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Johansson was chosen in the second round, 60th overall, while Berglund was selected in the sixth round, 177th overall. Both players were part of the Wings' strategy to rebuild their defensive corps through European talent.
