NHL Teams Giving Away One-Year Deals Like Candy Cans

These one-year deals are becoming all too common nowadays. Back in my day we built around core players, now it seems everyone is just throwing a band-aid on their roster. I suppose Jared Davidson's a decent player but does he fit into the grand scheme for this team?
