The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenseman Mike Weaver from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fifth round draft pick at the 2015 NHL entry draft. Weaver is an undersized defensive defenseman who has generally posted excellent underlying numbers while playing a 'shutdown' role for the Panthers. The trade was confirmed by TSN's Bob McKenzie.
