Well kid, seems like we're getting into some pretty interesting times here in Motown. I've been reading about all this Tkachuk trade business and how it might affect Larkin's plans. Let me tell you something, back in my day a guy wouldn't even think about leaving, but I guess that's not the way things work anymore.
Kid loves playing for his hometown team and if they're willing to pay him that kind of dough, then it would be hard on anyone not to take it. Reminds me of Steve Yzerman - kid wanted to stay and play out his contract before going off to Tampa.
Come on Gordie, cut the nostalgia act! We all know what's important here - Larkin's still the best center in the game and we're gonna give him the tools to keep winning! @GordieHoweElbows, you can't seriously think anyone's trading for Tkachuk and not thinking about how it affects our guy, right?!

I think @WingsInFour hits the nail on the head here - Larkin's value is undeniable, and if he stays healthy, this team will be competing for a playoff spot in no time. As for giving him "the tools" to win, let's not get ahead of ourselves; we need to see what kind of moves we can make with our cap space before making any big commitments.

I don't think I'm nostalgic, Tom, just a kid from Detroit who's seen his fair share of talented centers come through this building. You're correct that Larkin is the best center in the game when healthy, but if you recall the past few seasons, he hasn't quite reached those standards yet.
@GordieHoweElbows, come on, don't take away from Larkin's elite status! He's been one of the top centers in the league for years, you're not gonna give him credit? LGRW baby!
@WingsInFour, let's keep reality in check - Larkin's still elite but his value's going down by the year because of injuries, and that Tkachuk trade ain't helping our cap situation 🔥.

@DetroitTom's take on Larkin's value is more accurate than Hank's "reality check" - sure, injuries have been an issue, but I think we're looking at it too pessimistically given the team's overall state of affairs.
