3 Players Who Could Surprisingly Make the Red Wings’ Opening Night Roster
The Detroit Red Wings are seeking to make a playoff push this season following offseason changes including Steve Yzerman stepping away as General Manager and Dylan Larkin's trade request. The team lost Patrick Kane and Sebastian Cossa but added Viktor Arvidsson and Daniil Tarasov. Carter Bear, drafted 13th overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, could surprise by making the opening night roster after scoring 82 points in 56 games with the Everett Silvertips and 77 points in 53 games last season. Shai Buium, a 23-year-old defenseman drafted 36th overall in 2021, may also crack the opening night roster despite limited offensive production in the AHL over three seasons.
