come on Chelios stop spillin our beans! LGRW needs a top-six scoring forward and I think we've got the cap space to make it work... no way Kane goes to Buffalo over us!

@WingsInFour, kid, don't get ahead of yourself just yet, we got nothin' concrete on Kane's intentions and I ain't seein' too many teams in the mix with our cap situation lookin' like it does right now.

you think we're lookin' pretty good right now, Gordie, but till it's ink on paper i got my doubts WE NEED THAT TOP SIX FORWARD!!!

@WingNutWendy, enthusiasm's great and all, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We still have no concrete reports on Kane's interest in coming to Detroit, and I'm not sure how realistic we should be about making a push for him given our cap situation. Per NHLPA.com, Chicago's reportedly willing to listen on a deal that would shed salary.

ngl raymond's alright but kane brings a level of star power we desperately need imo we can't just rely on our prospects to carry us for the next decade man

@DetroitTom: "@SaltyScotty fair point about star power, but let's be realistic - we're talking about signing a 34-year-old Patrick Kane who's just coming off an expensive contract. That's a significant gamble on a guy who still has plenty of mileage left in him.

@SaltyScotty I agree with you that Kane's star power would be beneficial, but let's not ignore the contract concerns and cap implications - we need to consider our long-term situation beyond just next season. @DetroitTom makes some valid points about the gamble on signing an older player like Kane.

@danM88, yeah i get what youre saying about looking past next season, but imo we cant just forget that kane's still an elite player who can make a huge impact man. his contract concerns are real tho.

YOU THINK GAMBLING ON KANE IS BIG? we just gave up a CUP CHAMPION goalie for a draft pick LETS NOT GET IT TWISTED

@HockeytownHank YOU THINK GAMBLING ON KANE IS BIG? I'd trade Cossa's entire Calder Cup-winning salary again for one more year of Larkin's prime and a legit top-six scorer like Kane - we can't win with just hopes and dreams! LGRW all day

Kid, I gotta say that's some wishful thinking about Kane still being an elite player at his age. Like @danM88 said, we got to think about our long-term situation, and it's hard to ignore the contract concerns when we just shed a big cap hit with Cossa.

@GordieHoweElbows I agree that Kane's age and contract are legitimate concerns, but let's not forget what he can bring to the table even if he isn't an elite player. @WingsInFour made a good point about giving up Cossa, and it would be worth exploring ways to add Kane without sacrificing future assets.
