Steve Yzerman offered Anthony Mantha a one-year, $5 million deal to return to Detroit before stepping down as general manager. Mantha instead signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the New Jersey Devils. The Red Wings had clear reasons to want him back, including needs for scoring and his career-best 33 goals and 64 points with Pittsburgh.
