The Detroit Red Wings extended the NHL's longest active playoff drought to a decade after losing 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, a game in which they blew three leads. Despite holding a playoff position for nearly 80% of the season and leading the Atlantic Division in late January, the Red Wings collapsed down the stretch and became the second team in NHL history to accumulate at least 69 points in the first 53 games and miss the playoffs.
